Yesterday was apparently #NationalPetDay so let me tell you about a boy and his cat. We actually have three cats, but from the day we brought him home, this cat - Phoenix - has been right by Stokely’s side.
.
We use to leave Stokely’s door closed whenever he took a nap or at bedtime. Phoenix would literally meow all night long to get into Stokely’s room. When Stokely woke up in the morning and opened his door, Phoenix would immediately run in to “play” with Stokely (however it is that cats play). We had to start leaving Stokely’s door open just so Phoenix could sleep with him.

We’ve had Phoenix since he was a kitten but it wasn’t until we had Stokely that Phoenix choose his person. Stokely can be a little rough with him (and Phoenix will definitely let him know) but he’s pretty much always right by his side.

Did you know that each month I donate 15% of sales to an organization that is helping to support and uplift women and girls, and predominantly women of girls of color?

This month, I’ll be donating to @Invest.In.Girls. Since April is financial literacy awareness month, I wanted to pick an organization that is help our next generation of women to be smarter with their money.
.
Check out all the good things @Invest.In.Girls is doing and make sure you get your orders in by the end of the month the help this amazing organization.

Because months are going by too fast, I never got to announce the collab that I’m lucky enough to be doing with @the_eventfullife in celebration of #WomensHistoryMonth

Every month, Jon’ll releases collabs and spotlights products designed by women in business and/or mompreneurship. Her collabs and her shop are all about embracing the belief that women who wear many hats can still show up as our full selves by honoring and making space for ourselves.

When we got together, we knew we wanted our product to be centered around ABUNDANCE. Jon’ll participated in the @SwirlAndSipPodcast vision board party back in January and we coincidently choose the same word for the year - abundance.

We both feel that women are growing and stepping into the abundant lives that we can have and that’s what this tee is here to celebrate! Hop on over to her shop for this limited edition tee and celebrate your abundant life!

These are the moments I live for. The relationship my son has with my husband is such a beautiful thing to see. Stokely has such an immense amount of trust in his daddy. I hope that never goes away. I may not have a momma’s boy in any sense of the word, but I have a son whose best friend is his dad and there’s really nothing more I can ask for.

Happy Easter Sunday! If you have kids and are anything like me, you probably have cute things you’ll be doing for them all day. I made bunny pancakes this morning and we’ll be doing an egg hunt this afternoon.

But later on tonight, after family time is over and you’ve had a moment to sit down, remember how important it is to take some time for you. We can’t be the best moms without being our best selves. And that means taking a moment for us.

I've had such an amazing response to my decision to keep the giving going by donating 15% of all sale proceeds to different organizations that help women. When I first made the decision to keep this going all year long, I was worried that some people might not like the organizations I'm choosing to donate to or would want money to go to different organizations. But instead, I've had tremendous support for lots of people who love that I'm being bold with my choices and giving my business the power to give back.

Today is the last day to place an order to help benefit the @SheShouldRun organization. I'm excited about the work that is done by @SheShouldRun and 15% of all orders placed through today will be donated to this amazing organization! Shop link in bio!

This weekend I got to participate in a #Charcuteri

This weekend I got to participate in a #CharcuterieBoard workshop hosted by my podcast (@SwirlAndSipPodcast) and @Cheers_And_Chews. I had a lot of fun creating this personal charcuterie board and meeting ladies from across the country.
.
Even better, I may have found a new way to trick myself into eating better! During the workshop, I found myself munching on everything on my plate which I typically struggle with eating (I’m a junk food snacker). So now, not only can I make beautiful boards for my friends and family, but I can eat better too! Are you a fan of charcuterie boards?

It’s #WomensHistoryMonth which means I get to hi

It’s #WomensHistoryMonth which means I get to highlight one more amazing woman! Today is for my Muslim sisters - @IbtihajMuhammad, an American fencer and the first Muslim American woman to wear a hijab while competing in the Olympics and win bronze while wearing it!
.
Growing up, Ibtihaj’s parents sought out a sport where she could participate while still wearing her hijab. She wore the hijab at a young age and while growing up and pursuing a career in fencing she thought that keeping her hijab would inpsire other women and young girls to break boundaries and pursue their own dreams even while wearing the hijab.
.
She would become a symbol of diversity and tolerance during her Olympic run which took place during the 2016 Presidential election (which in case y’all forgot l, featured Trump bashing Muslims and promoting a Muslim-ban). Some folks weren’t happy with her when during the Olympics, she described the U.S. as a dangerous place for Muslims, saying that she did “not feel safe” as a Muslim living in America, but I think she was just speaking facts. We know our country isn’t a fan of Muslims so I’m happy to highlight a woman that’s breaking barriers despite that.
